Cardiac Technology Course Details
Cardiac Technology Course Objective and Curriculum
In the Cardiac Technology Course, students will develop the basic skills necessary to monitor patients for any type of cardiac problems within a healthcare setting. The student will be able to do the ECG and other cardiac investigations enabling the doctor to make an accurate diagnosis and treat the patient.
The Cardiac Technology course curriculum includes the following topics:
Introduction to Cardiac Care Technology
Ventilators and ventilatory support
Introduction to Cath Lab Procedures and pacemakers
Basic anatomy and physiology
Infection control practices
Types of critical care units and departments
Electrocardiography – ECG
Echocardiography & Treadmill Test (TMT)
Hospital organisation and functioning
Care and monitoring of unconscious and critical patients
Introduction to critical care
Basic pharmacology related to cardiac and critical care
